Tracking downloads or other events with Google Analytics
Now that I placed my first Mango Blog theme available for download on my projects page I wanted to be able to track if or how often it is downloaded. I thought about a possible plug in after looking at Paul Klinkenberg viewcount plug in, but decided to keep things simple and use event tracking in Google analytics.
The event tracking is very easy to setup on links, videos, etc... I was able to categorize my theme link as a them and that a user has downloaded the file. Nothing fancy, but it makes a lot of sense if you are already using Google analytics on your mango blog. A full list of features and instructions are located here:

Comments
@Paul - I'm more than happy to test it out. I will take a look and post what I find over on the comment thread on your post for the plugin.
Thanks for that! Reason I reacted on your post was that the 'new comment mail' to you was bounced with reason "Reason: Remote host said: 550 #5.1.0 Address rejected admin AT john-sieber.com". Thanks for testing the code btw!
@Paul - Thanks for letting me know about the email bouncing. It should be fixed now.
Hi John, Thanks for letting me know on my blog that the viewcount plugin wasn't completely working. Would you please test this next version: http://www.coldfusiondeveloper.nl/viewCount/viewCount-plugin-Mangoblog-v1.2.1.zip Even though you're possibly not going to use it, I'd really appreciate the feedback!
