Firefox 3.6 and IE Tab
I've used Firefox as my browser of choice for a long time. I've also used IE Tab for the times that I absolutely need the IE rendering engine for a specific site. A perfect example of this is when I'm using Outlook for the web access for viewing my work email on the web. Only the IE rendering engine can provide the proper interface while using Outlook for the web. IE Tab is also really nice when doing development as you can view rendering for two different browsers with the convenience of staying in one.
I upgraded to Firefox 3.6 last night and noticed that IE Tab is no longer compatible with version 3.6. I'm hoping that IE Tab is updated soon but in the meantime, I'm trying out Coral IE Tab as an alternative. So far, I'm finding a few small issues with Coral IE Tab as it does not seem to consistently render my Outlook for the Web page correctly. Any other alternatives to IE Tab out there that anyone can recommend?

@Vijay - I've noticed some of the same issues as you. I really only use Coral IE Tab for using Outlook for the Web to access an Exchange server and had issues right away. In the last few days there was an update to Coral IE tab and it does now seem better. It is remembering the sites I have told it as well. Worth getting the update if you have not already.
There is a bug of using/not using cookies... I used IETab for viewing profiles/sites I were logged in and when I wanted to see particular link as not logged host... IETab worked perfectly, Coral IETab no, even if I choose viewing without using cookies... sometimes it opens as logged, sometimes as not, on the same pages, so sometimes it uses cookies and sometimes not not depending on your choice.
Hi guys, For the people that want to use this plugin on Firefox 3.6: 1. Go to the following site and download the plugin and save it on your desktop: http://downloads.mozdev.org/ietab/ (the latest one is "ietab-1.5.20081203-addons.xpi") 2. Download and install 7zip from http://www.7-zip.org/ 3. Right-click the plugin "ietab-1.5.20081203-addons.xpi", expand the 7zip submenu and select "Open Archive". 4. Extract the install.rdf file to your desktop and open it with notepad or any text editor ( I actually preffer TextPad ). 5. Change the "3.1.*" line to "3.6.*" and save the file. 6. Move the edited file to the 7zip application so it can overwrite the old file and have the changes. 7. Drag and drop the plugin (ietab-1.5.20081203-addons.xpi) into FireFox; the screen installation should start now. 8. Restart your browser The plugin should be installed by this point. Regards, SivArt

@SivArt - Thanks for the tip on modifying the required version number. Coral IETab has been getting consistent updates, and for my uses I have been happy with it.
FYI- IE Tab 2 (for Firefox) is available as 'experimental'. It even imports your previous IE Tab settings! Here's the writeup from the homepage: "Newly Released - IE Tab 2 for Firefox The original Firefox IE Tab will no longer work in Firefox 3.6 because it used an outdated plugin technology that is no longer supported by Firefox. But it was an open source project, so we put in the effort to update the extension to use the latest technology, but otherwise kept it the same. So all of your favorite features are still there. Please try it! " http://www.ietab.net/home Cheers, P-)
The issue I mentioned below has been fixed now in later versions of Coral IE Tab. So I'm quite happy with it now!
Unfortunately, no! Coral IE Tab sucks. I found a couple of glitches with it already, the most irritating being that it can't "remember" sites I've fed in manually into its Site Filter. As a result, every couple of days when I visit some site that doesn't render properly in Firefox, I see that Coral IE Tab doesn't kick in because the site has disappeared from its Sites Filter even though I had added it last time :-(. Really annoying!
